CORTEN® STEEL SHEET:

Steel resistant to atmospheric corrosion

Our service centre specialises in the processing of corten® steel sheets: this is a special steel that is used in particular in the construction industry.

COR-TEN A®
CORTEN® STEEL
or equivalent
  • Cold-rolled steel.
  • Maximum aesthetic performance in lightweight structures such as architectural façades.

CORTEN® STEEL
equivalent to Cor-ten A
  • Hot-rolled steel
  • Excellent protection against corrosion due to the addition of phosphorus.
S355J2W+N
CORTEN® STEEL
equivalent to Cor-ten B
  • Hot-rolled steel
  • The addition of vanadium increases the mechanical strength of the material and provides good protection against atmospheric corrosion.

Thanks to alloying elements that contribute to the formation of a permanent, self-healing protective surface coating with a typical brown color, Corten® steel adds to mechanical endurance an exceptionally high resistance to weathering corrosion, up to 8 times greater than that of a normal structural steel.

Corten® sheet allows for zero galvanizing costs, and when painted, Corten® steel sheets minimize maintenance costs, because being made of a high-strength steel they are self-protecting against corrosion at scratches and chips in the paint layer.

The name CORTEN® STEEL derives precisely from its main characteristics:

  • CORrosion resistance: high resistance to corrosion
  • TENsile strength: high mechanical strength

Use of Corten® steel:
  • Fume recovery pipes
  • Smokestacks
  • Transport wagons
  • Containers and silos
  • Bridges
  • Decorative and architectural structures
  • Curtain walls (Facades)
  • Guard-rails and road barriers
